Finally fertile Grass (Asian) carp have believed to have found their way into the Canadian Great Lakes Michigan, Erie and Ontario and the St. Lawerence River.
Long been described a serious danger to the ecology of Canada's major bodies of water, fertile specimens are new being found increasingly more often. What started as an effort the keep the spread of the invasive species from heading North now becomes a battle for eradication. Eradication is usually quite unlikely after establishment occurs and recent moves by the Trump government will do little to help any further. The Trump administration has indefinitely delayed plans for strengthening defences on a crucial Chicago-area waterway to prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes.
